I can hardly find the words to describe Joey. He is exactly as Serina put it, "Class A, rock-solid." I also think he will have some answers to my hypocritical, consumer paradox. I can't help but wonder what he thinks of me. In comparison, I feel like a sheltered, uneducated, little girl. Hmmms...well I suppose no one is born with such a plethora of knowledge, but...wow. He even has read some of Chomsky's work (although this is the least of his accomplishments). We shall see what happens...
Today I fell in love with Edgar Allen Poe. "The House of Usher" is what won me over. Also took a look at some of Freud's writings, in particular, the idea of the 'double' from his work on the uncanny.
"For the 'double' was originally an insurance against the destruction of the ego, an 'energetic denial of the power of death.' The immortal soul was probably the first 'double' of the body...Such ideas....have sprung from the soil of unbounded self-love, from the primary narcissism which dominates the mind of the child and the primitive man."
This is certainly something to think about.
