i just finished working my first closing shift at second cup. pretty fun...with my shoes i sometimes feel like i'm dancing and making coffee all at the same time (or maybe it has nothing to do with my shoes and i'm just crazy) i'm getting better at making foam too...especially after that earlier incident:
SARAH'S TRAUMATIZING FOAM STORY
Here i was, on my third shift (ever) at Second cup and as usual a lady orders a Large Latte. Now, most people who hear (or can tell) that i'm new at sc are usually understanding, but not this person in particular. Stacey (oh and she is a microfoam maker extraordinaire btw) lets me handle making the latte. Espresso, no problem, steaming milk...not so much. As i attempt (and i really am concentrating) to make some quality foam, the lady bends over the counter and peers into the milk carafe. She looks up at me and remarks, " That's not going so well is it." I nod and try harder...but at this point the bubbles are just not going anywhere and i've only managed a little bit of scraggly foam. By the time the milk has reached the right temp, the lady almost had her nose in the milk carafe. When she sees i'm done, she straightens up and proclaims "THAT'S REALLY BAD..." in an ominous tone. I sort of murmur about redoing the milk but Stacey (heart) comes to my rescue by making a fresh batch of super excellent micro foam.
The moral of the story?
well, i started put making sucky foam and was traumatized, but now i'm getting better
(well and i can be really sensitive and a perfectionist)
i should get some sleep now...although i feel really awake
ps. does anyone think that caffeine/ sugar can be absorbed through the skin?
